On January 21st, we attended the Sinulog celebration at St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Wichita, Kansas. Bishop Carl Kemme was the celebrant along with Father Roger Lumbre and the parish priest Father Jarrod Lies. The ceremony was mostly in Tagalog to include the choir who always makes the mass that more meaningful.
Fiesta time
The procession started in the church and finished in the cafeteria. Yes.... I even got to play on the drum during the entire procession. The Arch-bishop did the invocation which was followed by lunch.... and seconds.... sometimes 3rds. We had 2 lechon and it was delicious. Traditional dances were performed to everyone's delight. Tinikling was the favorite with even Fr. Roger and the other Priests taking their turn with the bamboo. The Arch-bishop then picked up a Sto. Niño and began dancing with it. The entire community was involved with every part of this festival. Thank you all for letting us be part of the event!
